AT THE YELLOW TABLE (2010)

This piece was inspired by my time in China. There was a tiny noodle restaurant near my apartment. The menu was all photos. I would sit at the diner and draw the people working and preparing food. The people and servers were always kind to me.

“Diligence is the path to the mountain of knowledge. Hard work is the boat on the endless sea of learning.”

The text embedded in this text is a Chinese proverb that all young children practice when learning to read and write. It translates to:
