Florida Wild with Owl

2018, 19”L x 12”W, hand-dyed cotton fabric, machine-quilted, hand-embellished.

This is one of the Nature series, Inspired by my time as a bird watcher and amateur naturalist.

I made the Owl’s face of ceramic glazed with iron ore powder for a rough finish at Foeber’s Pottery Studio in Houston. The person looking out has gold seed bead hair. The images of hands and faces are drawn with the sewing machine.
